DIY Bookmarks!

So as you may know I am a very crafty person and I don't tend to buy things if I can make them myself. And I am also quite a bookworm so I read ALOT! But I was reading the other day and I realised that I didn't own any real bookmarks, I read all the time but I normally just use something lying around, like a receipt, a piece of paper, or the dreaded folded corner (dun dun DUUUN) so I decided to make a bookmark so I looked around and found this awesome tutorial on www.punkyprincess.com and this is how it turned out;

To make it all you need is a length of ribbon, twice the length than you want to show over the top of the book, you need a colour sample card in your chosen colour (you can pick as many of these as you want for free in a diy store like b&q or homebase) and a pen!

All you need to do it use a hole puncher to punch one hole in the top of your colour card and tie the ribbon through it, if you want to add a charm like I have then either thread it onto the ribbon before you tie it, or if you can, clip it through the hole.
Then you just decorate each colour, you can draw little doodles, write your favourite quotes, you could glue sequins to it, if you are into the mortal instruments series you could draw your favourite runes on each colour. You could even glue different fabrics on to give it a patchwork effect- the choice is up to you!

If you do make one then post in the comments what you did and how it turned out! I would love to hear about it!

Happy reading! ;)

p.s. I have been told that some of the comments don't come through straight away so if I don't reply then it is just because the comment hasn't come through yet- not because I don't like you :)
